Fulham are an English football team founded in 1879, making them the oldest professional football side in London. They celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2004 in the Premier League, less than 10 years after a brief spell in the 4th division. This dramatic turnaround owed much to the influence and money of their millionaire owner Mohammed Al-Fayed.
Fulham play at their famous Craven Cottage stadium, situated on the banks of the river Thames, and have done so since 1896, barring a 2 year period when they shared QPR's Loftus Road while Craven Cottage was brought up to Premier League code - standing sections were no longer allowed. Fulham have not yet won any major honours, but have recently qualified for Europe on more than one occasion. |
