Hull City FC is a Yorkshire based football club which was founded in 1904. Their biggest moment came at the end of the 2007-08 season, when they gained promotion to the top tier of English football for the first time ever, winning the Championship playoff final 1-0 against Bristol City at Wembley thanks to a goal from 39 year old Dean Windass. By doing this, Hull cast off the record as the largest city in Europe to never have had a top flight football team. The club started well in their first Premiership season, before faltering badly and only avoiding relegation by a single point.
The club's home ground is the KC Stadium in Hull. They relocated there in 2002 with their old ground, Boothferry Park, scheduled for demolition. The club's nickname is the tigers, due to the traditional kit colours of black and amber stripes. The club's badge features a tiger rather prominently, and the club's mascot is Roary the Tiger. |
