Queens Park Rangers, more commonly known as QPR or The Hoops (because of their traditional kit design), are an English football league club based in Fulham, West London. They have long standing rivalries with other clubs of the area- most notably, Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford. The club were founded in 1882, becoming professional in 1889. They played at a league record number of stadiums before finally settling at Loftus Road in 1917. They have played there ever since.
The club have never won the top tier of English football, coming closest in the 1975-76 season when they finished runners-up in the old first division to Bob Paisley's Liverpool. They also lost their only FA Cup final 1-0 in a replay to Tottenham Hotspur in 1982. Their only major domestic honour came as winners of the league cup in 1967, beating West Bromwich Albion in the final. They also came top of the Third Division in that season. |
